The Sigma Chi Collection

Many thanks go to Noah Phelps, Archivist for Sigma Chi. It is amazing that his organization kept the many documents over the years. Below are links to the items in the Sigma Chi archives that George Honig apparently sent to them.

George attended Indiana University for one year, 1893-94 and joined Sigma Chi fraternity. He must have felt close to the organization as he sent items during the years of his life.

Some of the items below are images and some are web pages. The images may be large and slow to download as we tried to make them readable.

1.   George's photo taken by Neal Walden of Evansville, Indiana. He lists his address as 116 E. Powell Ave., Evansville, Indiana.

21.   The Magazine of Sigma Chi cover. This item came from a relative of Honig, not the Sigma Chi archives. It presents some interesting issues. Under Honig's name, is Indiana '98. Indiana University had no record of him graduating. He graduated from high school in 1893. The archives listed the article at the top as December, 1954. This does not match this cover.

21.   The Sigma Chi Quarterly cover. This old photo came from the Honig Collection at Willard Library.

The bottom reads: Lincoln by George H. Honig, Sculptor, Lambda 1898

The same Sigma Chi magazine cover from February/March 1924 can be found by clicking on Sculptures and Lincoln Bust.
