Willard Library Plaque

Willard Library Plaque

Location: This plaque is located at 21 First Avenue, Evansville, Indiana. Photos taken April, 2009 by Tom Lonnberg, Curator of the Evansville Museum.

Willard Library received the above plaque as a donation from St. John's United Church of Christ which is near the Evansville Colliseum. It hung on the wall of a Sunday School classroom for many years. It is not known who gave the image of Lincoln to the church. It is interesting that Honig's name was scratched off the plaque.

Greg Hager, Directory of Willard Library, said it will hang in the library next to the Slavery & Abolition Collection which includes many Lincoln biographies.

The plaque is a duplicate of the one on the Lincoln Flatboat Monument located below the bluff in Rockport, Indiana. Another duplicate is on the Lincoln marker on the Boonville, Indiana courthouse square.
