This plaster cast has George's name and 1939 in the lower left corner. It also has a Number 15 on the back and loops of wire for hanging on a wall. Apparently, these were made, painted, and sold at the Lincoln Pioneer Village. Purchased from a Newburgh antique shop by a private owner. This plaster cast of the Village is on display at the Museum and was donated by Beverly Simon. It was found in a drawer in an old house in Grandview, Indiana. It was restored by Victor Kupcek. This plaster is of one of George's favorite topics. The red bird appears on several of his plaques. This plaster of Chief Set-Te-Tah was from the model used for the Lincoln Trail markers in Grandview, Indiana. It was donated to the Museum. On the back it says given to Stuart Mount in 1951. Stuart took piano lessons Alda Honig and traveled from Tell City to Rockport for them. This is a close-up of George Honig's name on the plaque. The date is 1920, 1926 or 1928. The Lincoln Trail markers were dedicated in early 1928. |
